Dear Member
Welcome to a new season at Laffak Riding Club and a new venue. We have moved to Shady Acres, Hall Lane Simonswood. The only post code I could find for it was L33 4YQ this will get you to within a 100 yard of the show ground. As usual we will be holding the shows on the 3rd Sunday in the month. Starting with the first point show on 18th April; the other shows are 16th May, 20th June, 18th July, 15th August and 19th September.
The Trophy Show will be on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August. We have more rings at the new show ground so we are able to put on more classes, for instance Ridden & Inhand Cob & Pure & Part Bred Arab classes.
We will be able to run the Ridden Showing and Inhand Showings in separate rings, there is a Equitation Ring, a bigger Working Hunter Ring with a bank in it, a Handy Pony Ring and much better Jumping Ring and also a ring where we can do Dressage.
We will keep be keeping the membership fees the same as last year Senior’s £14 and Junior’s £12. The class entry fee will stay the same at £4.00 members & £5.00 non-members. You will notice on the membership form I have put a space for a mobile phone number, this is in case we have to cancel a show and I can’t get hold of you, I will be able to send a Text to a contact number. It is also important that you put your post code on the membership form as we have to register our entire membership with the British Horse Society Riding Clubs, so if they don’t have a post code they don’t send out the free copy of the rider magazine. I have enclosed a Membership form & a class pre-entry form so you can get things sorted out before you come to the show; once you have become a member you will be able to mail me or send me your entry and just pick up your number at the show, hopefully this will speed things up first thing in the morning. You can also print off all the relevant entry forms & Membership forms by going on to our web site www.laffakrc.org.uk
On the 16th May & 20th June we will be holding a qualifier for The Premier Riding Club Championship which takes place on 10th & 11th July at Bold Heath E.C. Widnes. The shows from Apr to August will be qualifiers for the Northwest Show Jumping Championships to be held on 28th & 29th August at Brookhouse Equestrian Centre, Northwich Cheshire. The 16th May & the 20th June shows will be qualifiers for the Festival Association Summer Championship to be held at Valiants E. C. on 23rd to 25th July. We will also be entering the Festival National Winter Championships held at Valiants E.C.on 9th-31st October. B.H.S Affiliated Riding Clubs in our area will be a holding a Showing Show, so no show jumping just Ridden & In Hand Showing, Equitation & Worker Hunter. I don’t have the confirmed schedule yet, but it will be held at Macclesfield Riding Club on Saturday 29th May, members will accrue points for their club for an overall winning club. Lastly you can qualify for the Midland Championships to be held on 28th to 30th Aug at Rodbaston College, Penkridge, Stafford.
I think I will have writers cramp by the time I have written all the Qualifying cards out.
The St. Helens Show will be taking place on 3rd & 4th July at Sherdley Park St. Helens. We will once again run classes for Ridden & In-hand Showing on Saturday 3rd and Show Jumping classes on Sunday 4th. Schedules for this show will be available later in the season.
As usual I am pleading for help before the shows and also on show days, we especially need people to help putting out jumps in the jumping ring on the Saturday. Can I also appeal to members and friends to help at the end of the jumping classes, by giving a hand putting the jumps to the side of the jumping ring.
We are looking for SPONSORS for the Club Shows & St. Helens Show. If there is anyone who would to like to help the club by sponsoring a class, Please contact me and will give you some details.
I have enclosed a schedule of the season’s classes, Please note that on the schedule there is only a start time for the beginning of the day and a NBF (not before) time for after lunch so please make sure you keep your eyes open to make sure what class is in the ring, as all classes will follow on, so it is up to you to be on time If you are in one class and are also needed in another class please let the judge know.
That’s all for now, I look forward to seeing you all at the first show, If you have any queries don’t hesitate to ring or E-mail me.
Yours sincerely Linda Armstrong Secretary |
