Dear Member
Welcome to a new season at Laffak Riding Club. As usual we will be holding the shows on the 3rd Sunday in the month. Starting with the first point show on 15th April; the other shows are 20th May, 17th June, 15th July, 19th August and 16th September. The Trophy Show will be on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August.
I am sorry to say that we have had to put the membership fees up this year; they will now be Senior’s £16 and Junior’s £14. The reason for this is because we are affiliated to the British Horse Society Riding Clubs and we have to pay £10 for each member there is also an insurance fee we have to pay and this not included in the £10.
This year the Riding Clubs Headquarters are sending out the membership cards. I have to send a list of members to them so it is important that you put your Post Code on the membership form or you won’t get your membership card & Rider Magazine. It’s also important that you put a mobile number on the membership form so I can get in touch with you in case we have to cancel the show. We have also put up the class entry fees by 50p. We are sorry to do this but we haven’t increased the entry fee since 2007and we can no longer keep this up if we are to continue running the shows.
I have enclosed a Membership form & a class pre-entry form so you can get things sorted out before you come to the show; once you have become a member you will be able to mail me or send me your entry and just pick up your number at the show, hopefully this will speed things up first thing in the morning. You can also print off all the relevant entry forms & Membership forms by going on to our web site www.laffakrc.org.uk
On the 15th April, 20th May & 17th June we will be holding a qualifier for The Premier Riding Club Championship which takes place on 14 & 15th July at Bold Heath E.C. Widnes. The shows from Apr to August will be qualifiers for the Northwest Show Jumping Championships to be held on 25th & 26th August at Brookhouse Equestrian Centre, Northwich Cheshire. We will be holding qualifiers for the Festival Association Championship to be held at Valiants E. C. You can qualify for the Midland Association of Riding Clubs Championships to be held on 25th to 27th Aug at Rodbaston College, Penkridge, Staffordshire. The Festival Equestrian Events to be held at Barton Equestrian Centre 22nd, 23rd & 29th September. The August show will be a qualifier for the Prestige Equine Events Championships to be held at Aintree on 15th September. We will be awarding Veteran Dressage qualifiers to horses/ponies that are over 15 years of age and are the 3 highest competitors with a 60% or over test score will be able to enter the championships. Basically if there is a qualifier we will try and supply the qualifying card.
As an affiliated British Riding Clubs we are able to enter teams in the Area Trials to go to the Championships held in Lincoln. To qualify for these championships our area (Area 3) holds Team qualifying competitions in show Jumping, Dressage & Horse Trials. The dates are Dressage 14 July at Wilmslow RC. The Show jumping will be on 21 July at Rochdale RC and the Horse Trials will be at Kelsall on 25 June.
If you are interested in any of these competitions let me know, you will be expected to make a small contribution towards the entry fee for these competitions. We have to provide 3 stewards for every competition we enter so we would need help with providing stewards. All horses/ ponies competing in these team events must have valid record of the flu vaccines the horse has been given. The rules for these vaccines can be found on the British Horse Society website, www.bhs.org.uk you need to go onto the Riding Clubs and then on to flu vacs, where you can calculate if you have the right sequence of vaccinations.
As usual I am pleading for help before the shows and also on show days, we especially need people to help putting out the jumps in the jumping ring on the Saturday. Can I also appeal to members and friends to help at the end of the jumping classes, by giving a hand putting the jumps to the side of the jumping.
We are looking for SPONSORS for the Club Shows. If there is anyone who would to like to help the club by sponsoring a class, Please contact me and will give you some details.
I have enclosed a schedule of the season’s classes, Please note that on the schedule there is only a start time for the beginning of the day and a NBF (not before) time for after lunch so please make sure you keep your eyes open to make sure what class is in the ring, as all classes will follow on, so it is up to you to be on time If you are in one class and are also needed in another class please let the judge know.
That’s all for now, I look forward to seeing you all at the first show, If you have any queries don’t hesitate to ring or E-mail me.
Yours sincerely
