Dear Member,

What a terrible year it has been for the weather, at the last show somebody said it was the last day of summer but I think the summer had forgotten to start, at least we managed to have a nice sunny day for the last show.

We have decided that because we had to cancel the Trophy Show in August and we had already bought the trophies we will use them at the first show we hold, but they will be for members only. We will still be holding the Open Trophy Show on the Bank Holiday Monday.    

You will find enclosed a list of this years points winners; it has been quite hard to get some results so we have decided to be very generous with the placing and ignore the 10 point rule and virtually go down as low as possible to get a result. The trophies will be given out at the Presentation Dance, which will be held on Friday 14th November at Newton Social Club, Patterson Street, off Cross Lane. The Presentation will start at 8.00p.m.

If you can’t attend the dance please make sure a representative picks up your trophy, as they will not be kept for you. Tickets are £4.50 each, you can get the tickets by either by filling in and returning the form that is available on this site, or by contacting the following people, Linda Armstrong (Liverpool) 0151 486 5128, Mo Chamberlain (Rainford) 01744 882255 .

If you have any queries regarding the points or if I have spelt a name wrong, please ring me as soon as possible and I will try to sort them out.

Will all 2007 Points Trophy winners please make sure they have them engraved as soon as possible as I will be contacting them soon to arrange their return.

Directions to the Club.                                                                                                                                          

From Newton on Crow Lane East, turn left at the traffic lights just past St. Helens College, onto Cross Lane, (Belvedere Road on the opposite side of the Road), then first right into Patterson Street.

From St. Helens, go past Laffak Show ground on Common Road, it then goes into Crow Lane West, pass Vista Road on your left, then turn right at the lights into Cross Lane (St. Helens College is on the opposite right hand corner) and then first right into Patterson Street.

Dear member

Welcome to a new season at Laffak Riding Club. We will be starting the season off with the first point show on 20th April; the other shows are 18th May, 15th June, 20th July, 17th August and 21st September.
The Trophy Show will be on Bank holiday Monday 25th August.

Enclosed you will find a membership form, please help by filling this in and send it to me before the first show. The affiliation fee we have to pay to the British Horse Society has only gone up by 50p per member and the insurance fee has stayed the same so will not be putting up the membership & class entry fee this year. The membership fees will be the same as last year, Senior’s £14 and Junior’s £12. The class entry fee will be £4.00 members & £5.00 non-members. You will notice on the membership form I have put a space for a mobile phone number, this is in case we have to cancel a show and I can’t get hold of you, I will be able to send a Text to a contact number. It is also important that you put your post code on the membership form as we have to register our entire membership with the BHS so if they don’t have a post code they don’t send out the free copy of the rider magazine. If you want to get yourself organised before the show, you can print off the class entry form by going on to our web site www.laffakrc.org.uk

On the 18th May we will be holding a qualifier for The Premier Riding Club Championship which takes place on 11th 12th & 13th July at Myerscough College. At our April, May, June, & July shows you can qualify for the Shires Inter Club Challenge Championship held on 13th September in Staffordshire. There will also be qualifiers for the Northwest Show Jumping Championships to be held on 23rd & 24th August at Brookhouse Equestrian Centre, Northwich Cheshire. The 18th May & the 15th June shows will be qualifiers for the Blue Chip Festival of Champions the provisional date for this Championship is 19th & 20th July.

The St. Helens Show will be taking place on 5th & 6th July at Sherdley Park St. Helens. We will once again run classes for Ridden & In-hand Showing and Equitation on Saturday 5th and Show Jumping classes on Sunday 6th. Schedules for this show will be available later in the season.

As usual I am pleading for help before the shows and also on show days, we especially need people to help putting out jumps in the jumping ring on the Saturday. Can I also appeal to members and friends to help at the end of the jumping classes, by giving a hand putting the jumps to the side of the ring.

We are looking for SPONSORS for the Club Shows & St. Helens Show. If there is anyone who would to like to help the club by sponsoring a class, Please contact me and will give you some details.

I have enclosed a schedule of the season’s classes, Please note the times on the schedule are for a Guide only; classes can start before and after the time stated. If you are in one class and are also needed in another class please let the judge know? I have tried to time the classes so they don’t clash but I am afraid it is not always possible.
